Privacy Policy

This policy covers ufd.deals, the tech-deals site operated by UFD Media. We try to be straightforward: we collect very little, we don’t sell or share visitor data, and we don’t require an account to browse.

Information we collect

We collect minimal data. We do not require accounts to browse deals, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information from visitors.

• Server logs. Standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, URL accessed, timestamp) is recorded by our hosting providers (Vercel, Cloudflare) and retained for short periods to operate the service.
• Affiliate click metadata. When you click an outbound affiliate link, we may log the deal ID and timestamp to monitor link health and detect broken redirects.
• Anonymous interaction counts.We record aggregate, non-identifying events to see what’s popular — e.g. that a deal was saved or unsaved, or that a category was opened or hidden. These carry no account, name, or raw IP address and are used only for site analytics (such as ranking the most-saved deals).
• Retailers. Once you leave UFD Deals via an outbound link, the destination retailer (e.g. Amazon, Best Buy) operates under their own privacy policy and may set cookies for attribution.

Cookies & local storage

UFD Deals stores a small number of items in your browser to make the site work. None of these are used for cross-site tracking, advertising, or sold to third parties.

• Saved deals (ufd-savedcookie) — a JSON list of deal IDs you’ve hearted, capped at 50. Lets the Saved Dealspage render your bookmarks without an account. Cleared if you remove the cookie. Beyond rendering that page, saving or unsaving only adds to an anonymous popularity count — never linked to you.
• Theme preference (ufd-themein localStorage) — remembers whether you picked light or dark mode. Stays on your device.
• Votes (ufd-votescookie) — remembers which deals you’ve up- or down-voted so the buttons reflect your choices. To stop the same deal being voted on repeatedly we also store a one-way hashed form of your IP address against each vote; the raw IP is never saved.
• Hidden categories (ufd-hidden-catscookie) — the list of deal categories you’ve chosen to hide from your feed. Stays on your device; clear it any time from the “Customize feed” panel. Hiding a category also adds to an anonymous tally of how often each category is hidden, with no link to you.
• Twitch connect (ufd-twitch-connectcookie) — only set if you connect Twitch on the submit form. A short-lived (1 hour), signed token holding your public Twitch username so we can credit your submission; cleared once you submit.
• Admin session cookies (autodeals-admin, ufd-admin-session) — only set if you sign in to the staff admin. Regular visitors never have these.
• Outbound retailer cookies. Once you leave UFD Deals via an outbound link, the destination retailer (Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) operates under its own policy and may set cookies for affiliate attribution.

Submitting a deal & Twitch rewards (optional)

If you submit a deal, we store the deal details you provide. The name and email fields are optional and used only to credit you if we publish it; we also briefly log your IP address to limit spam. You can submit without giving any personal details.

You may optionally connect your Twitch accountto earn channel points if we publish your deal. We use Twitch’s standard sign-in (OAuth) and read only your public Twitch username and account ID— we never receive your email, password, or any other account data, and we never post to your account. We store that username and ID to credit you and award the points. If your deal is approved:

• your Twitch username is shown as the submitter on the public deal page; and
• we send your Twitch username to StreamElements to add the loyalty points to your channel-points balance.

We only keep a short-lived, signed sign-in cookie during submission. To have your submitter details or Twitch handle removed from a published deal, write to the address below.

Email subscriptions (optional)

If you sign up for the digest, we store your email address, a confirmation token, and an unsubscribe token. We use these only to send the deals digest you asked for. You can unsubscribe via the link in any email or by writing to the address below; doing so is processed automatically and immediately.

• Affiliate partners— Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, B&H, Walmart, and others, when you click their links.

Your rights

If you would like a copy of any data linked to your IP address, or want it removed, write to business@ufdmedia.comand we’ll do our best to assist promptly.
